Hello, I am going to be putting in front disc brakes on a 64 apache c10. I have most of the parts but I still need to get a brake booster and master cylinder. I was thinking about getting the booster off a donor from a parts yard. However it looks like it might a tight fit. If anyone knows of a year that might work best or if it matters I would love to know. I've also seen where some people put in a sway bar. Any information on the topic would be great. Thanks Noah

Following is the most comprehensive link I've found on disc brake swaps for the 60-66 series: 67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/showthread.php?t=367260On the brake booster I used the Master Power Brakes 9" slimline. It's a nice fit but spendy: www.mpbrakes.com/products/product-detail.cfm?product_id=194If I had it to do over I would probably gone for the 8" dual diaphram, which is a bit cheaper - but hadn't been developed yet when I did my truck: www.mpbrakes.com/products/product-detail.cfm?product_id=631A lot of people have used a variety of factory boosters, but most still seem too big, or have some problems with dialing in the correct master cylinder for the rest of the system. Since my truck is a 1960, I swapped in a 1975 front suspension crossmember. For a donor, I had the wrecking yard cut off the frame ahead of the firewall which included the factory sway bar. To install it on my 1960, I simply lined up the bar and mounting brackets, drilled the frame and bolted it up. It makes a big difference in handling compared to not having one.

You can use pretty much any dual master cylinder and booster off of any 1/2 disc equip'd 70's chevy truck. The one thing you need to watch for is that you'll have to lengthen piston that's connects your brake pedal to the booster. The booster will sit a inch or two off the firewall verses your old booster by its self.
