I bought a 66 c10 truck 2 weeks ago as a project for my kids. It came with all of the original paper work and the owners manual has a protecto plate in the back. It is a metal plate with the vin# that matches the truck and where it was 1st purchased at etc. Is this rare? Has anyone else seen this?

I remember getting one in one of my vehicles back around 1970, (I think it was my 1970 Chevrolet CST pickup). It was an embossing plate that the dealer used when you took the vehicle in for service, (they didn't have to write down the VIN, just have the VIN embossed on the work order).

What an amazing piece of history. I'm sure that plate is priceless and irreplaceable to you.
