Anyone know what type of problems one would have with this swap? Do you know if some Hooker Hugger Headers will work with frame clearance? The motor mounts used would be the older style on standard perches.

It's a bolt in deal, all you need are the BB frame mounts from an early 70's truck done deal, and headers from early 70's fit!.. A BB will bolt up to the small SB mounts but the motor sits too low, but yet both mounts look identical to the eye!.. Go figure!..

my buddy put a 396 in his 64 I think it all went well for him, but If you plan on using the HEI distributor you might have some problems because of the size of it. I'm not real positive on this, but perhaps somone else here can verify that.

The 454 distributor is in the same place as the small block, (center rear).

Shouldn't be a problem, these trucks have a large cavity in that area more so than the later ones so it seems!...

Hei will not fit but you can use a points type or an aftermarket small diameter hei which works well. Plan C for the firewall is to heat and beat it so it fits. I don't recommed this

You can move the engine forward. You drill only one hole on each side. Makes a lot easy to work on. I would only do it on auto trans.

I have a big block i'm getting ready to put in from what i've seen the hei is to big and hit the fire wall. I've seenthe fire wall cut, beat, etc.. to get the distributor in however i've also seen that the mallory unilite fits with no modification to the fire wall. thats the way i'm gunna go. if you don't want a points distributor.
