I am rebulding a '60 Apache longbed. I am removing the fuel tank from the cab. I know there are kits available out there but I was hoping someone might have an inexpensive junkyard solution. any info would be appreciated.

I am told 80's suburban tanks will fit. Be careful of 87 and up they were fuel injected and I assume had a pump inside them.

I did some research today and found several sites explaining how to do it. Most sites did indicate a suburban tank. My only problem with that is how low the tank hangs. One person used a 25 Gal. tank out of a mid 70's van. It was about 3-5 inches diffference from the suburban tank. I have my answers I think. I have a lot to do and not much time to do it. Thanks for the advice.
I'll post pictures and instructions when I so it.

Richard, most kits are for the 63-66 as the 60-62 frames are diffrent. Let me see if I can find you a link

Sal, I have looked at some pictures online. It looks like the rear portion of the 63-66 frame narrows after the rear axles. Is this true. If so, I will have to fabricate some rails to hold the tank by welding angle iron to the proper dimensions. Please let me know if you do find something, and thanks!

Bigrichard Why weld some brackets to the frame when you can bolt them and they will work just as well. You may want to go to a aftermarket tank sometime. Just remember to use good bolts and Locktite them with Blue Locktite. I believe the tank has a cross mounting instead of a front to back mounting. 62Blue Don
