trying to determine what i have ,only thing i can find behind distribitor is F 0 5 I F N stamped ,no other #'s also i have seen the letters TA (IN ASSEMBLY MANUAL) for both 65-66 230 and 250 WITH MANUAL THREE SPEED CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHAT TO LOOK FOR OR WHAT I HAVE? ANY INFO WOULD BE HELPFUL? ALSO I HAVE SEEN GM7 STAMPED ON REAR END CARRIER ANY CLUE WHAT GEAR THAT WOULD BE ?

I don't have my Chevy engine decoder book with me, however it will tell what displacement you have. If the engine is original to the truck and it is a 1965 or 1966, it is a 250 or 292. If it has the original rear-end, it is probably a 3.73:1. To be sure, drain the rear-end grease and pull the pumpkin cover. Count the teeth on the ring gear and pinion gear...divide the bigger number by the smaller number and you will have your gear ratio. Standard gear ratio in the C10 trucks was 3.73:1...with other ratios available for an upcharge.

I don't know if '65 and '66 models were different, but my '64 was originally built with a 292 and 3 Speed manual with a 12 bolt 4.11 Posi.
