I have a 1966 C10 with a 1 barrell carb. It is the original engine and I just rebuilt the carb.
It had an electric ignition installed and I have a distributor, new wires, etc. - This was done on the truck when I bought it.
Engine runs like a champ but the O ring gasket is leaking at the base of the distributor rotor and the engine. Can anyone give me some steps on taking off the rotor to replace the gasket? It would be greatly appreciated.

There isn't an "O" ring at the base of the distributor, however there is a flat style washer that seals this surface. Try tightening your distributor hold-down before replacing the washer. In order to replace the washer you will have to remove your distributor and then replace it, thus requiring you to reset the timing. Hopefully, tightening the hold-down bolt will do the trick. Good luck with your project and let us know how things turn out.
PS-you may also be able to apply some RTV around the base and retighten the hold-down bolt, without removing the distributor, but don't pull it up too high, because it will disengage from the cam timing gear.
