Okay guys some of you have been seeing my post of my truck about how i want to paint it. There is just no way i can afford the good paint right now and i dont want to put a good paint till I can either have someone do body work on my truck or even better do it myself once I know wat i am doing. But would be a mistake in my opinion to waste money on a good paint if the body is wavey..mine is..But anyways I dont want to have to but I might just use rustoleum satin on my truck..A guy i use to be cool with did this on his 57 ford customline with white and black rustoleum..held up good for a few years and still holdin up good..the thing is my truck is starting to rust alot on the hood and on some spots..i dont want it to keep rustin away..this is my daily driver..

Ummm, from my personal experience with rustoleum, I wouldn't do it, unless, you're not doing a very big section. Cause I did that to a few panels on my truck, and it's a pain to sand off. I don't know if the Rustoleum I was using was old or something, but it didn't come off very easily. Haha, after I read what I just wrote...this is absolutely NO HELP to you. Haha, sorry:(

Shoot, forgot to write what might actually be a little help...if you can, just clean up the rust spots and spray the spots with some primer. It might not look beautiful, but that would be what I would do. Anyways, give it a shot.

yea I am just gonna do the hood with some rattle can primer for now cause thats where most the surface rust is..I had alot of it to bare metal when sanding it 8 months ago and never sealed it...was supposed to have it painted 8 months ago but the idiot ripped me off..thats another story..so just the hood will be reprimered and the lil spots where they were left to baremetal and should be fine till i have body work done to it and then time for paint..Ima give it another year and hopefully its painted ..

my whole truck is done in the rustoleum pints. I use a hvlp sparygun and a 32 gallon compressor. had no rust since and looks good atlest in flat black. had no problems with sanding when I fixed spots after the first initial spray. Works good to keep you ride from rusting while your doing bodywork. been in rustoleum for 3 years now and nothing new has showed up.

If Rustoleum is hard to remove by sanding, that would be a good thing, wouldn't it? I have seen a lot of "rattle can", shade tree paint jobs lately, using flats and suedes. These coatings are porous and should be protected with a flat clear.
In your case, I believe Rustoleum is a top coat product and will weather well and stand up to UVA. Do the proper surface preparation and paint the whole thing in Rustoleum, in the color of your choice, until you can afford to have the bodywork done and apply a real paint job. I say, go for it and let us know what you decide to do.
