Hello everyone I have a couple of questions. I have a 62 that is all original with the strait six manual transmission. There was an electrical issue with the previous owner( they are not mechanically inclined) and I am trying to get her up and running. The issue im having is a no start issue. 1)The gas was bad in the tank, took that out replaced with some new gas about a gallon. I thought the fuel pump was bad( no fuel was getting to the carb) so I replaced that and still no start. The odd thing is the fuel pump looks upside down compared to the normal direction i have seen these fuel pumps on a chevy V8. So I am not sure if thats the issue with the fuel. I am attaching a pic of the fuel pump that was originallly on the truck before I removed it...as you can see it looks upside down? 2) since the ignition is gone I used a remote start trigger at the starter to turn it over from there...as I was doing that the coil was getting hot after I did the remote start a couple of times. I am not sure if I have all the wires hooked up correctly. Looks like they put a new alternator and not the original generator/voltage regulator. I am really not too familiar with the straight six's or cars/trucks these old so I have a lot of research to do,but any advise anyone can provide will be most helpful. Thanks for your help.

Ok =the coil will need 12volt when cranking the starter! also the distributor will need 7V (aprox) when running - saves points life!! thats going thru the resistor -usually bolted on firewall ( white porcelin thingy-1 wire to 1 wire from to dist. Now-- for fuel?? put some fuel down carb throat. see if she fires?? if does then start looking thru complete fuel system & lines- disconnect fuel lines & blow air thru them.
