I know that you can buy a gas tank to place it in the back on the frame , but I was wondering if anyone knows if there is a model form a late or early model car that I can take form from a junk yard to save a few bucks? 1966 fleetside chevy truck

If you don't want to put a filler neck through the bed use a mustang gas tank. From one of the years that the tank and filler were in the trunk. Then just cut a hole in the bed floor and have your filler through the bed. You can even flush mount it with a flip up door for access to it so it won't interfere with loading the bed at all. If you can't find one in a junk yard, just order one. They are massively reproduced and can be had on the cheep.

The frame rails on Chevrolet pickups were identicle for many years. Gas tanks out of several Pickups and Suburbans will strap right in. I bought a 80's pickup tank and bolted it right on. There is even a slightly angled rail in the frame that the gastank followed perfectly. It is extrmemly easy.
