I removed the 6 cylinder engine.I am keeping my original standard 3 on the tree transmission and installing a 350.The starter bolts to this transmission rather than the engine block.I went to the local parts store and they said that the part # for a six cylinder and V8 were the same part # on the starter.I bought and installed this starter to the transmission bellhousing. After hooking up the wires,I gave the key a turn and heard the teeth grinding as they were trying to engage.Which flywheel and clutch set can I install to the 350 crank to make this all work without cutting the starter nose housing off of the bellhousing to bolt one to the block? They could not find any stock 327 flywheel in their inventory. Is the starter designed to work with a 153 or 168 tooth flywheel?
