I have an HEI from a '79 Blazer w/ 350 V8. Will this distributor fit into the 283 V8 in my '66 C20?

Yes, but you will have to run a non resistor wire from the switch to the new dist. The new larger dist. cap may hit the air filter. A well placed dent in the filter housing should help. Gap the plugs like the 79 and HEI wires are also required.
hope this helps del

Thanks, del. I understand the wiring but was more concerned with the dizzy gear, shaft length, and whether the cap will hit the firewall. So, other than the plug wires and power wire and plug gap, I assume it should be a "drop in".

I've got a 350 with an HEI in my 1960 GMC and the distributor cap clears the firewall just fine. I've always run an open element air filter so clearance with that has never been a problem.
