I'm running a 250 inline and just wondering if anyone had any ideas for this engine? i'm talking bout performance tricks, chrome, anything or maybe some pictures of dressed up sixs... i know i'll probally jerk it out further down the road and put a v8 in, but this thing is a blast to drive with "3 in-the-tree". it's also kinda unique because everybody else around here has allready slam'd an 8 in there trucks... i like to live outside the bun!!!

you need an offenhauser intake with a 3 carb setup, a nice finned valve cover, and split exhaust manifold so you can run true dual exhaust.

Oh yeah, 6's are the bomb. I'm seriously considering rebuilding my old 292 and trickin' it out.

Those 6's are cool, a little head work, good induction and exhaust system will wake it up quite a bit without really getting into it!...

I'm a big 292 fan. One of the best engines ever made in my opinion. With the gas prices today, they should be putting them back in new trucks. I don't know of a better Chevy engine as far as the power they put out compared to the good mileage they get. The one I had got super mileage for some reason.
The 230 and 250 are also good engines as well as the 'ol 235.

Here's the source for all kinds of hot rod stuff for 6 bangers, they have it all and they been around for a long time!. It's a new site and they don't have everything up yet from the looks of it!... Clifford

I had a 66 van in the seventies that had the 230 with three on the tree and 411 ten bolt. It was rebuilt completely stock with the original intake, exhaust, and one barrel carb. It did high sixteens in the quarter and would bark the n-50's when shifting to second. It also got 18 mpg!

I had put a 230 with several mods in my truck before I decided to build the original motor back to stock. If I can figure out how to post pics, I'll post some.
With headers and chambered mufflers from a corvette, it was VERY loud, but many liked it!

Also, you can find nice cast aluminum valve/rocker covers and sometimes finned lifter covers on older Mercury/Mercruiser powered boats. Old Mark Twain, Tri-Sonic, Tom Sawyer to name a few...

I saw a Clifford intake 4V (modified from 2V?) and dual exhaust manifold (2 pipes) on a 66 250 that is going back into a Studebaker. A really nice set up that I wouldn't mind copying for my 66 C10.
