Now that I have taken the front end off the 65 I want to attach the 66 front end that it came with... or maybe it is something else. The original looked the same as a 66 except the Chevy name was on the bottom of the grille and not the top. I need to attach the headlights to the 66(?) front.
When I took off the front grille it had 2 bolts per side and that piece of metal also held the headlights. What is this piece called that holds the grille to the wheelwall? I need to order or find soomething to hold the new front end because it lacked the pieces to connect it to the truck.

The body part between the front fenders that forms the top and bottom lip of the mouth is called the "grille support panel" in the LMC catalog. The bolts that hold the grille go thru this panel from the wheelwel area and thread into the "headlight backing plate", to which is fastened the grille itself AND the headlight adjuster bucket. Every one of these parts is available from LMC, HOWEVER- If you need to buy the headlight bucket, I need to caution you that LMC sent me 2 defective ones in a row where the notches were not punched in the correct positions to hold the sealed beam in the correct orientation, in fact the three notches were not in proper relationship to each other either. If you need these parts, find good used ones! The aftermarket grilles for these trucks are generic 64-66 and come with chevrolet lettering across the top or without lettering ( $62 cheaper). The 60-61 four headlight grille, 62 grille, and 63 grille are unavailable but can be replaced with the 64-66 grille.

The headlight backing plate is just what I am looking for, I'm just not sure of the year. The front end I wanna put on looks like a 66 so I guess I'll just order two of these for a 66. Thanks man!

I just found out why some of these parts do not fit. The front end that came one it was off of a 63 and the front I want to put on it is a 65. I guess I'll have to order parts from the 64-66 era. Now I know for sure.

I mixed and matched lots of stuff.....I think my headlight backing plates were from the 62 as was one front fender. Nothing required re-drilling.... I DID, however order a new grille support panel, 64-66, and it has the holes for the headlight backing plates.

The headlight/grille mounting brackets for the '60-'63 are the same and the 4-5-6 are the same. Although they are not interchangeable as a direct bolt-in, they can be made to work by drilling new holes in the grille support.
